Being first time buyers and one of us not being English and unfamiliar with the process of buying a property in the UK, we were a bit nervous about things in the beginning. With a deadline of having to move out of the apartment we were renting, there was also a quite tight timeline to meet. Paul and his team were very helpful pushing the seller’s solicitors to finalize the contract swiftly and kept us updated on a very regular basis. This reassured us that everything was taken care of and meant that we didn’t feel we were needing to make our own enquiries. We had found PCM Solicitors LLM through an internet search based on the Law Society’s accreditation scheme. We chose PCM because we considered it particularly positive that it had been chosen as one of the first London law firms to receive this accreditation. As non-residents of the UK, we also needed to find a law firm willing to deal with clients in Germany. PCM went out of its way to help us with the complicated procedure of selling property in the UK – a very different legal system than the one we are used to in Germany. At any time, we found PCM responsive and willing to answer the many questions that arose from our lack of familiarity with the English legal system. Emails were answered within hours, and there was always someone at the firm available on the phone to answer additional queries politely and knowledgeably. Our sale proceeded as quickly as the buyers’ solicitors allowed for. Certainly, no delays occurred on PCM’s side. We would also like to add that given the level of service we received, we considered PCM’s fees to be very moderate. I was in a fragile state, and was treated with great sensitivity and sympathy despite the frequency of my Angst-ridden e-mails and telephone calls. PCM have over a period of eight months, handled the sale of my flat, an attempt to purchase another which fell through at a late stage, and a latterly a successful purchase. From the outset, I was struck by the clarity and precision of correspondance and procedural explanations. The sale of my property was handled in such a way as to make the Vendors role straightforward, any delays were caused by other parties and there was excellent communication between my solicitors and my selling agent (which I am told is not always the case). The first attempt to purchase ran into difficulties as a result of misleading information about the lease. I was warned of the implications and given clear choices, and PCM did their best to see this through in the face of gross incompetence from elsewhere, but to no avail. The considerable workload generated by extensive complications was handled with unerring and conscientious attention to detail. By the time I came to embark on a second attempt to purchase, I was in a fragile state, and was treated with great sensitivity and sympathy throughout the conveyancing process, despite the frequency of my Angst-ridden e-mails and telephone calls.
